I read this book my Milan Kundera when I was in college - "The Unbearable Lightness of Being", I was 19 I think. I didn't understand what Lightness is and what Being is and what Unbearable is in this context. I revisited the book a few times and still the meaning escaped me.
Recently I was struck by Lightness - a feeling where you don't have any weight on you, like weight of expectation, ambition, desire, fear, love, relationship. It is like you wake up and your life is still a mess and you have no worry, anxiety or anger.
This is extremely unbearable - it is like WTF is this, it makes no sense, you should be hustling, desiring, ambitioning and instead you are going about your life doing what you wanted to do all your life.
You just go about your life without needing to prove anything, like the river flows because that is what it is meant to do (not to meet the ocean), like the sun which burns because that is what it is meant to do (not to light the world) - that is being.
Hence the Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Illusion (Maya) is the stage on which the Tandav happens, the grand setup that makes srishti, sthiti, and laya feel real. It is what keeps people trapped in the cycles, believing they are gaining, losing, suffering, rejoicing—when in truth, it is all just movement within the dance.
Anugraha—grace, liberation—that is beyond the dance. It is not another step in the cycle; it is what happens when you step out of it. It is Shiva’s final blessing, the state where you are no longer bound to creation or destruction, where you are free from the illusion of loss and gain.

You have to do what you love and love what you do. And then whatever you do it will be spectacular.

In the light of the Mrs OTT Movie here are some images of the dishes I cooked in the past two years. Cooking is seen as a menial task, and when you cook for someone it is considered slavery. Rich people don't cook and well to do men certainly don't cook. Having a maid is a status symbol, a marker of success even if she is an atrocious cook, people would rather have bad food than cook themselves.
When I lived alone I used to cook all the three meals. I started cooking for a kick and soon I found out that I was finally having the food that I cooked the way I wanted. By experimenting and applying all my learning from science I was able to explore new dimensions in cooking. People would visit me for the sole purpose of having the dishes I cooked. I cracked the way to make the thickest of the gravy without using a blender.
Before this I had never cooked in my life, or done the dishes. My mom was aghast, it went against her ethos.
Everything is a chore and a burden if you are doing it as a job, for social validation and to climb up in society. If you do things with passion and love, anything and everything that you do would be exemplary and satisfying.
Cooking is fun and highly meditative and I would recommend everyone to take it up.

True detachment is not a battle, not a choice, it happens naturally like release of bubbles from a soda bottle.

Sadness is easy. Happiness takes depth.
Sadness requires nothing—just surrender. It’s gravity, pulling you down with the weight of what was. But happiness? Happiness demands clarity, effort, and a kind of fearlessness.
To be sad, you just let go and fall. To be happy, you have to rise. You have to choose lightness despite everything. That takes strength.
Most people think suffering makes them deep, but depth is not in how much you endure—it’s in how much you transcend.

Everyone tells you peace and calmness matters, nobody tells you why and even fewer people will tell you how to claim peace and calmness.
Here is why peace matters - if you are in a bad relationship - with yourself, for the company you are working for or a romantic relationship, or with your family, more than 90% of the time you are processing that hurt, anger and pain. There is very little space for anything else, including love, productivity, happiness. Social media amplifies everything so if you are feeling hurt social media will amplify it many times over without giving you a solution.
I created Phnk as a space where you are not constantly chased by pain and anger. Our algorithm prioritizes happiness and upliftment over anger, hurt and outrage.
The trick to getting over toxic relationships (of any kind) is to change the environment which is causing the toxicity.

You spend hours and days and months and years thinking how it will begin and then in one moment things begin with a bang. In the most unusual unexpected way.

Relationships are a give and take, a compromise, an agreement to shared values.
Love is Love - it has no boundaries in space and time.
It is important to understand the difference between love and relationships, they are not the same.

I just saw my ex-boyfriend 10 minutes ago, riding his bike with his new girlfriend. He looked so happy. I never wanted to ride a bike, especially not late at night. I hate the cold, and the dark scares me. But the girl looked so cheerful, laughing and smiling with him.
That’s when I understood something: life is amazing we were miserable together and we are happy separate. He having found the person who shares his passion and me peace in the knowledge that I could never be that person.
